General: I was born and raised in Colorado--Colorado Springs, to be exact. I had never really been to the pacific northwest before I finished my Ph.D. and moved to Vancouver, B.C. for a post-doctoral research post in 1991. I first came to Western in 1994. I spent one year as a professor at the University of New Mexico in 1996-97 before returning to Western in the fall of 1997. I enjoy flying small airplanes--an expensive hobby.

Research: My research interests are focussed generally on the quantum mechanics of electron transport through very small devices. I have also done work on molecular orbitals (specifically, optical excitations), fluids, and collective excitations of superlattices.
